"Sensational Strategies for Teaching Beginning Readers" was created by The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education so parents could teach their children to read in the home school setting. The Institute believes in early intervention in reading development. This up-to-date multi-sensory phonics program uses the same Orton-Gillingham methodology used by the top reading professionals across the country. Our phonics based reading program is fun for children. Their parents will find the results are very rewarding. The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education has found our program especially helpfull for the slow learner. This would include the student with learning disabilities or dyslexia. IMSE believes that every child can benifit from phonics based reading instruction.
The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education is well know for its udated phonics based Orton-Gillingham trainings for all reading professionals. We customize our staff development programs for each school district. Our goal is that every child be reading at grade level by the third grade.
Yale University research professors, utilizing MRIs were able to demonsrtrate that the normal human brain reads by breaking down words into simple sounds. On Nov. 3, 1997, this study was reported to the public, in the Baltimore Sun. Dr. Reid Lyon of the National Institute of Health, has noted that only the most severely brain damaged children do not have the ability to learn to read by the 3rd grade when given mutli-sensory, phonics based, reading instruction.
